About Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach is a water park located in the Walt Disney Resort. It opened in early 1995. The park features Mount Gushmore, which is a 90 foot hill split into colored slopes - Red, Green, and Purple. All of the water in the park is heated except that in the ice cave portion of Cross Country Creek. Blizzard beach was frequented by almost two million visitors in 2008. Many of the attractions are divided up on the colored slopes of Mt. Gushmore. They are as follows: Red Slope: Runoff Rapids, Green Slope: Summit Plummet, Teamboat Springs, and Slush Gusher. Purple Slope: Downhill Double Dipper, Snow Stormers, and Toboggan Racers. Attractions on the ground include: Cross Country Creek Ski Patrol (Leisure Pool, Fahrenheit Drops, Freezin Pipe Springs, Cool Runners), Tike's Peak, and the Chairlift.
