About Typhoon Lagoon
Typhoon Lagoon is a theme park located in at the Walt Disney World Resort. It opened in mid 1989. Typhoon Lagoon is a water park based on a fictitious typhoon that that hits a tropical paradise. In this scenario, there are ships and other marine paraphernalia strewn all over as a result of the typhoon. Within this mayhem, there is a shrimp boat (Miss Tilly) stuck on a mountain that spews water on a regular basis. This park had over two million visitors in 2008. . Some of the attractions include waterfalls and slides including Mount Mayday (with Humunga Kowabunga, Storms Slides, Gan Plank Falls, mayday Falls, Deelhaul Falls, Forgotten Grotto, and Overlook Pass), Hideaway Bay (with Crush n Gusher containing water coaster slides Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher and Pineapple Plunger, There is also Sandy White Beach), Typhoon Lagoon (with Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, Bay Slides, Blustery Bay, Whitecap Cove, and Learn to Surf), Shark Reef (with Shark Reef, Sunken Tanker, Hammer Head Fred's Dive Shop, and S.A.S. Adventure), and Castaway Creek. Food and Beverage establishments include: Leaning Palms, Typhoon Tilly's, Happy Landings Ice Cream, Let's Go Slurpin', and Surf Doggies. Picnic areas include: Getaway Glenn and Hideaway Bay.
